Out of hours
If you have a dental emergency outside our normal business hours you can still be seen by a dentist. Ring the practice and our answer message will give the times of the Pain Relief Clinic at the Belfast City Hospital.
Please note that the Pain Relief Clinic insist patients will only be seen if they arrive at the beginning of a session. Normal Health Service charges apply, and bring your medical card. This clinic will not provide any treatment if not directly related to pain relief. We would advise you only to go to one of the clinics if you have pain not helped by painkillers, or had an injury to your teeth or jaws. A rapidly developing swelling with a high temperature and pain is a reason to attend especially if breathing is affected.
Occasionally, some people have an alarming looking amount of swelling but little pain and do not have a high temperature. In the latter case, people can use there own judgement, but still ring us at the first opportunity to do so.
We have time set aside everyday before lunch for emergencies, so ring first thing in the morning if you can. Other times may be available if we have had a late cancellation, usually though 'its best to book an appointment in this emergency session when the proper time can be taken to deal with the problem. The phone line is open from 8.30am.
